Join the Movement for Mental Health!

Within the space of six months, the Masiviwe mental health project has made tremendous strides. Launched on June 16 with our “Meet Thandi” animation, targeted at youth mental health, Masiviwe has been building its reputation as a trusted brand on social media, as well as in the non-digital space. The movement is growing! With Dr Wolvaardt at its helm, the team has hosted several round tables, HIV and TB Think Tank meetings, and many, many more with organisations, universities, and government departments both in the mental health space, and the HIV/TB space.

The movement aims to leverage the tremendous work being done by many organisations across South Africa to improve mental health and increase access to mental health care for all. The main funder is PEPFAR, supporting a focus on the integration of mental health into HIV/TB care, with its first implementation data reported in August 2022. Additional funding from Grand Challenges Canada is enabling the development of a smartphone serious game on mental health.

We all need to look after our mental health! So JOINT THE MOVEMENT and follow @MasiviweZA on all the social media platforms and go to for information, self-screening tools and links to where you can get help.
